XOC

XOC (Barcelona) - Myspace

The three founders of XOC (catalan for "shock" or "clash") met in Barcelona at the beginning of march 2008 and quickly started rehearsing and writing original material. After only a couple of months of activity the newborn project already scored some good shots in Barcelona's scene and went on the most watched show on Catalunya's "Barcelona TV". They melt the punky rock guitar sound with modern electronica's synths and pounding drumbeats with lyrics that are an ironic peek at modern western life's icons: television, sex, cool lifestyle, money worship, and urge of partying.






Tri Yann

Tri Yann, Jean Chocun (Nantes) - Myspace

Tri Yann is a French Band from Nantes that has been playing songs and musics from Brittany for nearly 40 years. It is the oldest band in France. Tri Yann was created in 1970 by Jean-Louis Jossc, Jean Chocun and Jean-Paul Corbineau. Jean-Chocun sings and plays the guitar, the Mandolin, the banjo and the dulcimer. He is also the band manager.





Yaniv Nachum

Yaniv Nachum (Amsterdam) - Website

Born in Israel in 1977, Yaniv Nachum studied at the Israeli Jazz Academy, Rimon, before going abroad at the Conservatorium of Amsterdam and at The Manhattan School of Music. Since then Yaniv has been playing with some of the best orchestras in the Netherlands such as the Metropole Orchestra. Yaniv also played in the house band of the Dutch television show, Flogiston, and was bandleader on the Dutch show, De National Wetenschapquiz. Since 2003, Yaniv has been teaching Jazz Improvisation at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam and is now conducting and arranging for the Amsterdam Jazz Orchestra.






Goozer

The GoOzer has a plan. This plan involves his cello and a lot of thingies. Some of the thingies are weird. And this weirdness is what inspires the Goozer. It is the way of the GoOzeness. To explain the true plan of the plan is impossible. The only thing that matters is that the dude got goOzed

Calvin Welch

Calvin has been playing drums since the early 70's. He toured in the USA & Europe in the 70's with the likes of Sonny Stitt, Eddie Russ, Bob Crawfords Jazz Masters, The Patterns, Grant Green. Calvin has played with the best not only overseas but here in Australia. Since coming to Australia from Los Angeles in 1988, Calvin has toured with several famous artists such as Kevin Borich, Marc Hunter, Renee Geyer, Buddy Guy, The Party Boys featuring Joe Walsh from the Eagles, Guy Strazzulu and Matthew Doyle, Marcia Hines, Gary Symulin, Carl Orr, Christine Anu, Jackie Orzascky & the list goes on…






David

David Caneva (London) - Website

David is a prolific audiovisual artist, musician and journalist that was awarded a Masters in Documentary from Royal Holloway University of London and has been working as a documentary filmmaker for 10 years.He is also a singer and songwriter who began his Professional career at the early age of 9 years, when he started doing theatre and playing folk music in his hometown of Bogota.





Strange Fruit

Strange Fruit (London) - MySpace

Strangefruit are a new and exciting concoction, fusing elements of rock, blues, jazz and dirty folk. Having played their first impromptu gig in Tokyo (supporting The Only Ones last May), Jenny, Jamie and Peter recruited Will Roberts (a versatile classical/jazz/rock drummer from Manchester whom Jenny met on the jazz scene) and the Strangefruit seeds were sewn. They played their first official show together as a band in November 2008.

Le C.U.L (Lille) - MySpace

The Collectif des Ukuleles Lillois is a band from Lille which musicians could be considered as multi-talented as they are able to play either the Ukulele, the flute, the saxophone or traditional drums. Marianne, Minh Shalla, Beng and J1 singsin French, Spanish, Italian and write very various texts and melodies that can sound sad, romantic as much as funny and explosive. Thos guys are amazing when it comes to performing, they make their audience crazy, joyful and sexy. As they explained us, since they began live performances, the birth rate has skyrocketed in Lille!





Nicolas Hauzer

Nicolas Hauzer (Brussels) - MySpace

After a degree in economics, Nicolas Hauzer decided to become a violinist and began a musical education. Thanks to the Fall of the Berlin Wall, he discovered melodies and rhythms from central and Eastern Europe that were unknown in Western Europe during the Cold War. This encouraged him to travel across countries such as Hungry, Romania, or Bulgaria where he studied one year at the Musical Accademy of Plovdiv. Since then he has joined and performed with several traditional-music and electro-acoustic bands and teaches the violin in Brussels.
